WHO is he?
Chelou is an unsigned 23-year-old songwriter who taught himself to play guitar by ear and still now can’t read music. His Mothership EP will be released on July 27 on The Weird & The Wonderful. This new release follows his 2014 EP The Quiet.

WHAT about the name ‘Chelou’?
While the reason behind the name remains mysterious, what we do know is that the French word chelou stands for something unusual, strange..

WHERE did he grow up?
Chelou says he was raised by mother and three fathers and describes himself as a product of the Camden-Punk scene his parents were native to. His mum left home at 14 to join the circus and with that spirit Chelou adopted the ethos that life was a blank canvas for ourselves to complete however we see fit.

WHY should I listen to him?
For his song-writing and sincere tone in his voice are capable of taking you directly inside the story he’s telling.

WHEN can I see him live?
Chelou recently supported Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore in Paris, Natalie Prass in London and toured with All We Are around the UK & Ireland. This summer he will be playing at Green Man and Brainchild Festival.
