WHO are they?
“We are HOO Has (Jamie – Vocals, Mark – Guitar, Adam – Drums) and we started playing together a couple of years ago after jamming for the first time at a party. We got a couple of recordings on a phone and when we listened back with clearer minds the songs still sounded good! The next week we met up for a proper amped up jam and the rest is history…”

WHAT is the inspiration behind their songs?
“Lyrically I (Jamie) just describe my experience of the world in a matter of fact and interesting way. My favourite songs were always quite in your face, not burying meaning under mountains of metaphors. Musically we take inspiration for anywhere we can find it, all the way from J J Cale to J Dilla.”

Their new single This Is The New Me “is about trial and error nature of learning what parts of my life are good for me. The sense of self is a flexible concept, every time you have a new thought you can be a new person. How I feel today may not be how I feel tomorrow, always struggling for continuity”.

WHERE did they grow up?
“We all grew up in different places (Faversham, Basingstoke and a little village in Wiltshire) but met in London. There has been an amazing scene in our area and we feel lucky to count amazing bands and artists such as Francobollo, L A Salami, Mohit, Is Tropical and the great Mystery Jets among our closest friends.”

WHY are they called HOO HAs?
“It was a name I had thought of before I was in a band, I like it because it means a commotion, sounds vaguely musical and can be used to refer to female reproductive organs.”

WHEN can I see them live?
“We are playing the main stage at Wychwood Festival on the 3rd June, supporting Gaz Coombes at the Big Night Out charity gig near Oxford on the 18th June. We also will be having a release party for our single and EP in early July.”
