WHO are they?
4am are a DIY boy/girl duo based in London making what they define as “intimate dance music with blends of electronic and RnB beats. In January we released our first single More, and have just released our second single, Yearning & Calling. We write, produce & engineer all of our own music with our sound aiming to capture the essence of late night emotions.”
“We began working together in May 2015, after finding each other via youtube, made a few records together and found we had a natural musical chemistry and decided to embark on a project together in January of this year.”
WHAT is the inspiration behind their songs?
“We write about emotions and just everyday things people go through just through our own eyes. I guess we’re both late night thinkers and the sonics of our music reflects that.” Their new single Yearning & Calling “is about a long distance relationship and trying to be in love with a 12 hour time difference, trying to catch each other at the right time, it’s hard…”
WHERE did they grow up?
“We’ve both grown up in and around London. The diversity of the city gives you more perspective, and has impacted us both because we are continuously inspired by the interesting people we meet and places we go. Plus, the music scene is great, especially for up-and-coming artists, so we’re very excited to be making music in London.”
WHY are they called 4am?
“4am reflects the vibe we want to create with our music, both sonically and visually. Most of our lyrics are either written in the early hours of the morning or are representative of the over-thinking and the neurotic voice inside your head before you drift off to sleep. So, 4am just seemed to really fit.”
WHEN can I see them live?
“With 4am still being a relatively new project – releasing music as we write – we don’t have any set plans to play live at the moment because we are still trying to build our sound and create a strong set. But we hope to play live towards the end of summer, so look out for that :)”
