WHO are they?
“I could probably describe us a bunch of unlikely lads, nothing particularly interesting or special about us. And while it is true we have all studied music in some way or another but I don’t necessarily believe that makes you good at it. What I would say we do have in abundance though is a great work ethic and genuine passion for writing and playing music – which is essentially why we started the band.”
WHAT are they singing about?
“I don’t think there is any one thing that inspires us. I would perhaps say the closest thing towards an underlying principle is that our songs represent us. Without sound all hippy, I think as we have evolved and matured as people the music we make has followed.”
WHERE are they from?
“Me (Dan Parker, guitar/synth) and Liam (Grindell, guitar/vox), are from the best place in the world, Yorkshire. However not everyone can be as blessed as us so Mike (Bradnam, drums), James (Robinson, vocals) and Jack (Richards, bass/bass synth) are from London, Loughborough and Norwich respectively. We all met and started playing together whilst at uni in Hull but just recently moved to Manchester. It’s difficult to say exactly how a location has moulded us a band, but Hull gave us the opportunity to grow and develop and now Manchester brings the opportunities to push ourselves and reach a wider audience.”
WHY are they called Affairs?
“We chose the name Affairs because we are big fans of one word titles, and more so who doesn’t love a bit of ambiguity.”
WHEN can I see them live?
“We are next smashing up Trinity Festival in Hull on the 26th September.”
