WHO are they?
Those Amongst Us Are Wolves are a post-rock band formed out of the remnants of other bands.

Mark Oliver (guitar) and Tom Brill (drums) started to jam the early life of TAUAW, until Chris O’Connell joined on bass in 2011. The band wrote most of its first release, Chaotic Love Stories and Irrational Behaviour as a three-piece until being joined in late 2011 by Josh Bate on keys and synths. As a four-piece they wrote and recorded This State Is Conscious at Flipside Studios, Coventry. In 2014 Josh left TAUAW to pursue other projects and the band is currently writing new songs and touring.

WHAT is the inspiration behind their compositions?
“We talk a lot about man versus nature and/or industry, the idea of man caught between forces. We try to write music that allows a space to dream in, for the listener to make their own decision about the music they are hearing and what the themes might be. It is perhaps music to metaphor.”

WHERE are they from?
“Chris and Mark live in urban areas. Both Coventry and Nuneaton (West Midlands, England) Mark’s hometown, have long standing industrial histories, although much of that history has since folded and dwindled, car making and mining and so on. Tom lives in the sticks as he’s a country boy, but we don’t hold it against him. As our music is instrumental, it’s harder to detect where it is directly influenced by our surroundings; if we wrote lyrics then perhaps the streets and buildings of our everyday life might be more evident.”those-amongst-us-are-wolves WHY ‘Those Amongst Us Are Wolves’?
“Mark had been writing down ideas for band names long before TAUAW formed. Those Amongst Us Are Wolves is just a set of words that we thought sounded good and fitted how we felt about music. Post-rock is known for its long band, song and album names. ‘Those Amongst Us Are Wolves’ is pretty long but it slips off the tongue before you know it! Other titles on the list included ‘Whales are Battleships’ and ‘The Coffee Shop Syringe Trauma’. There are stories behind those, but maybe it is better to let you write them.”

WHEN can I see them live?
“We are currently in the writing process for our next release. We are also booking dates for a set of September dates, so watch out for those. We are playing for Embrace the Chaos promotions as part of the Worcester Music Festival on the 19th September. It is a charity event for the Worcester Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre”.
